A wax pencil is also used to mask scratches. At the end of the work, the floor should be polished with a soft cloth.

The parquet can be installed on wooden logs. Problems on the floor can be associated with their corruption. In such cases, parquet flooring restoration requires removing the planks at those areas where they behave suspiciously. If the whole logs are rotten, they need to be replaced. Small parts can be cut out and new pieces of the same size should be installed instead. If there are planks with defects, they also need to be replaced.
Local repair of the parquet floor
Sometimes the parquet floor begins to creak. This happens for several reasons:
1. The wedges between the floor and the wall have relaxed;
2. The planks began shattering;
3. There are voids under the tiles.
You should not begin cycling the surface immediately. Begin repairing parquet wood floor with removing the plinths and checking the reliability of fastening of the wedges. If they have dried up and become useless already, you need to change them. After that, leave the parquet for a week. If the squeak appears again, start looking for other reasons.
The parquet is usually installed on plywood or screed. Under loading, they eventually break down, forming voids on their surfaces. Individual shattered tiles can be easily stuck. To do this, holes are made in them and glue is driven there with a large syringe. After the procedure, cargo is put on this place. In a couple of days, you can remove the press and putty the problem place. If the entire floor creaks, you will have to restore it completely.
Remember: dust and chemicals have harmful effects on health. Before you start grinding, colouring or applying varnish, be sure to put on protective equipment.
Filling dents and slits
Parquet covers are made of hardwood. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be any serious damage on the floor. To eliminate these defects, it is necessary to prepare a putty mixture with the addition of wood dust. Apply the solution to the surface with a wide spatula after cycling. Potholes and crevices will no longer stand out on the main background. After this procedure, the surface of the parquet floor should be primed, sanded, cleaned from dust and covered with several layers of varnish.
Restoration of the entire surface
Such repair of the parquet floor includes several stages. Before starting works on parquet flooring restoration, it is desirable to remove the plinths to facilitate the process. Then remove the old varnish with a grinding machine. If you don’t have one, you can rent it. It’s even more profitable than buying an expensive tool if you don’t work on a professional basis. Manual cycles can be used to remove varnish in hard-to-reach places.
If you can’t get a grinder, use a special hairdryer to warm up the varnish. Then remove it with a spatula. At the end of the work, collect the garbage with a vacuum cleaner. Examine the floor carefully. Apply the putty where necessary. Polish the cover once again with larger-grain sandpaper to get rid of rough edges. Carefully remove the dust from the surface.
Now you can apply the first layer of varnish with a brush or roller. After drying, pass all over the floor with fine-grained sandpaper. At the end of the work remove the dust and apply the second layer of varnish. If you want to get the perfect result, don’t stop working. Layers of varnish can be as much as necessary for a smooth surface. Apply the varnish preferably in the direction of wood fibres.
Attention: during the application of varnish the windows and doors must be closed so that there was no draft. Do not allow dust and dirt particles to fall on the non-dried varnish.
Swelling of the parquet floor

Such problems with the shield parquet become a reason for a complete replacement of the floor. When there is a swelling on some areas, the parquet flooring restoration is preferable. You need to heat the surface of the coating. With the appearance of a characteristic smell set the cargo on the swollen place. Per square decimeter load should be at least 12 kg. If the bumpiness is reduced, the procedure should be repeated. If the swelling was the result of a violation of the technology of laying the coating, the floor will have to be dismantled. The blocks should be dried and returned to their places.
How to care for the parquet floor
Proper care of the parquet floor guarantees its durability. Harmful effects on wooden covers have only a few factors:
1. Ultraviolet rays spoil the original colour of the floor, spoil its appearance. In sunny weather, there should be curtains on the windows.
2. Strong humidity causes swelling of the parquet. Moreover, harmful mould forms under it. Keep an eye on the humidity in the rooms. Don’t try to wash the parquet coatings often, and after this procedure wipe the floor dry.
